As part of the GHWP Capacity Building program, we are pleased to announce an upcoming free webinar via Zoom on Speaking the Language of Medical Device Cybersecurity: A Global Regulatory Perspective by Joel Kent, Director, Regulatory Affairs Strategy at GE HealthCare. Joel Kent is also a senior lecturer and adjunct professor at several universities and organizations, and he serves as Chair of the RAPS Boston Chapter.
As medical devices become increasingly connected and software-driven, cybersecurity has become a global regulatory priority. Regulatory professionals are now expected to understand concepts such as threat modelling, software bills of materials (SBOMs), vulnerability management, cybersecurity testing, and cybersecurity lifecycle management. This webinar provides a practical overview of the terminology, deliverables, and regulatory expectations shaping medical device cybersecurity worldwide. Participants will learn what these cybersecurity artifacts are, why they exist, and how they support patient safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance throughout the product lifecycle. The session will also explore the important role of regulatory professionals as translators between cybersecurity experts and regulators, helping bridge technical cybersecurity concepts with regulatory expectations in an increasingly connected healthcare environment.
Target audiences, regulators and industry who are interested, are welcome to join with the Zoom access as follows:
